From November 17 to 19, the Chengdu Mountain Disaster and Environment Research Institute of the Ministry of Water Resources of the Chinese Academy of Sciences organized 2014 doctoral students to carry out course practice in the "Mountain Science Teaching and Research Base" in Luoji Mountain, Xichang, Liangshan Prefecture. As a practical part of the basic course "Introduction to Mountain Science" for doctoral students at Chengdu Mountain Institute, this internship specifically hired two senior experts, Zhang Wenjing and Xie Hong, to provide explanations and guidance along the way.

This internship selected Daqing Liangzi Ancient Landslide Group, Luoji Mountain Ancient Glacier Relics, Qionghai Wetland, and Anning River Valley as observation points for investigation. Led graduate students to conduct on-site investigations on landform characteristics, landslide and debris flow development characteristics, prevention and control engineering, Quaternary glacial landform and structural characteristics, as well as vertical distribution characteristics of biology and climate. Zhang Wenjing and Xie Hong, two experts, gave lectures and answered questions on site. After the investigation, they comprehensively summarized and organized the scientific examination internship and related subject knowledge, allowing graduate students to have a comprehensive intuitive understanding and understanding of mountain science theory. The two experts also emphasized the importance of combining theoretical knowledge learning with practice based on their rich research and life experiences, and shared their own experiences and insights.

During the scientific examination internship, Luoji Mountain experienced a strong weather change process. Under unfavorable conditions such as significant cooling, rainfall, and high altitude, the graduate students listened attentively, thought actively, and were not afraid of fatigue or hardship, successfully completing the established tasks.

This scientific examination internship received strong support from the Luoji Mountain Tourism Scenic Area Management Bureau of Liangshan Prefecture. The Scenic Area Management Bureau attaches great importance to this event. Director Rihai Bujie personally deployed and arranged the internship work, and actively coordinated the relationships between all parties to ensure the smooth completion of the internship work.

According to the characteristics of mountainous disciplines and the training needs of doctoral students, Chengdu Institute of Mountainous Sciences has carried out field scientific research practice activities for many consecutive years. After the Introduction to Mountainous Science was selected as the digital boutique course of the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it also established the Luoji Mountain Science Teaching and Research Base in 2013. Luoji Mountain has unique Quaternary ancient glacier relics, typical geological structures, rich landforms and biodiversity characteristics, typical mountain vertical biological and climatic belt spectra, and is also a frequent occurrence of modern mountain disasters such as mudslides. It also has unique Yi ethnic folk culture and customs, making it a rare living textbook for comprehensively understanding mountain science knowledge from multiple perspectives. Along the route from Chengdu to Luoji Mountain, there are obvious boundary points for climate zones, with distinct mountain landforms, ecology, and climate changes. Large hydropower projects are also built along the way, and various mountain disaster prevention and control projects can be seen along the highway, all of which have good teaching value.
